SOAR is the Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration program which is designed to introduce students to the University of Wisconsin-Madison community. During SOAR, students will learn about academic advising, course enrollment, campus resources, and enroll in classes for the upcoming term/semester.
- General information about SOAR can be found at the SOAR website.
- For information about registering for SOAR, first read through admitted freshman checklist if you are a first-year student (freshman). If you are a transfer student, please refer to admitted transfer checklist.
- New L&S freshmen and transfer students who have a general idea of what they hope to study in the College of Letters & Science will most likely be assigned to L&S Academic Advising Services until they are ready and eligible to declare a major.
- New L&S freshmen and transfer students who are undecided will most likely be working with academic advisors in Cross-College Advising Services (CCAS) – a part of the Office of Undergraduate Advising. For important information about CCAS and SOAR, please refer to Frequently Asked Questions.
