Probation is a warning for L&S undergraduate students that they are not doing well and need to make a change. Since students need a 2.000 GPA to graduate, Letters and Science puts this warning in place after any term (including summer) in which a student does not reach a 2.000 GPA for that term.
Some students find that staying in school and working to clear probation is the best choice. Other students choose to spend a semester or two away from campus. Of those who decide to take some time off, some take courses at a different institution. Your academic advisor can help you figure out which option makes the most sense for you.
