L&S Advisor Consortium

For nearly 30 years, the L&S Advisor Consortium has served as a hub for connection, collaboration, and community among advisors across the College of Letters & Science. Open to all professionals whose roles involve direct engagement with students—not only those in academic departments—the Consortium was established to foster a spirit of shared purpose in advising. We provide a vital space to exchange information, share best practices, and support one another in strengthening our collective advising practice.

Mission

The L&S Advisor Consortium builds community among academic advisors across the College of Letters & Science by fostering connection, sharing best practices, and strengthening our collective advising practice. The Consortium also advises on policies and procedures to advance advisor development and recognition.

Members

All members of the Letters & Science advising community, along with their campus partners, are welcome and encouraged to attend Consortium meetings and participate in activities. The Consortium values broad engagement and welcomes anyone whose work supports students in the College of Letters & Science.

Chairs

The L&S Advisor Consortium is led by two Chairs. To ensure broad representation, one Chair must be a major or certificate advisor within the College of Letters & Science. The other Chair may be any advisor serving L&S students, including those working in units that engage with broader student populations—such as L&S Academic Advising Services, the Center for Academic Excellence, and similar programs.

Chairs serve two-year terms, with one position elected every other year to ensure continuity. Elections are conducted via online ballot, and Chairs may serve up to three consecutive terms.

In addition to providing leadership and coordination for the Consortium, the Chairs are responsible for maintaining this L&S Advisor Consortium web page.

L&S Advisor Consortium Idea Submission Form

To ensure the Consortium remains responsive to your needs and interests, we are introducing a continuous idea submission form. This form offers a simple, ongoing way for you to share feedback, suggest topics, or propose ideas for future Consortium meetings and activities. Your input is essential in helping shape a community that reflects and supports our shared advising practice.

The Consortium’s idea submission form is open year-round, providing a space for participants to share suggestions for future gatherings or general thoughts related to the Consortium’s work. Submissions are reviewed regularly by the Chairs and will help guide planning and ensure our efforts reflect the interests and needs of the L&S advising community.
